synopsis
Climate change and the resulting economic and social problems mean life in Europe is unbearable. As a country unravels, a young family try their best to keep things together but love and hard work aren’t enough and they begin to lose hope of a better future. They decide to risk everything to get to Rhea – a city state for the super-rich that is being built in the desert where they have been promised well-paid work. A catastrophic sea crossing leaves the father, Jack, separated from his wife and child. Alone and ill-equipped, he sets out on a perilous journey through the desert, convinced they will be reunited in Rhea.
