“A Kurdish resistance fighter returns home to see her dying mother—but it’s almost too late.”

Why We’re Making This Film

When a Kurdish resistance fighter returns home to see her ailing mother, she is confronted with the years she had to miss her family. With the watchful neighbours breathing down her neck, she searches for forgiveness, tries to overcome her guilt and finally has to accept that these are the last hours she can spend with her mother.

This film explores themes of exile, family, and the things we sometimes realize too late. Although fictionalized, Agir is inspired by real events—and by the director’s personal story.
